![]() ![]() ![]() I released an album toward the tail end of last year called Good to Go and I met a guy named Jon Halperin who asked if I’d come to the States and he said he’d like to put some dates together…on this album I don’t play bass. What brings you on tour in LA this time around? We spoke with him about his latest album Good to Go, his past songwriting with rock legends, and the things that still inspire him as a songwriter. This weekend, Matlock makes rare appearances in LA and Long Beach playing Hotel Cafe and Alex’s Bar. Going on to play with The Rich Kids, Iggy Pop, The Damned, and Glen Matlock & The Philistines, he’s had a pretty solid resume post-Pistols and plenty of stories to tell about his tunes and travels. The average punk fan has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to Matlock’s resume as a guitarist, lead singer and songwriter for the last four decades. His musicianship and songwriting skill comprised the bulk of the band’s only studio album Never Mind the Bollocks, only to leave the band before its release in 1977. Unlike Sid, who made his mark by looking the part, you could say Matlock actually played the part. However, most of their knowledge confined to his time as the original bassist the Sex Pistols, pre-Sid Vicious. Plenty of punk purists think they know about Glen Matlock.
